The technology roadshow "New Technologies - New Way of Age(ing) 2022?" aimed to better inform the population about ageing technologies.

St.Gallen, Zurich, Bern, Lausanne, Geneva and Lugano were visited with an accessible trailer, an Airstream. The roadshow was well attended at the various locations.

During the roadshow, we distributed questionnaires in order to better map the impressions of the visitors and to adapt to their expectations in 2023/2024. More than thirty people completed the questionnaire. It became clear that the majority (>95%) of the 65+ visitors use technologies (computer, mobile phone and tablet) in their daily lives, but not even half of them use specific age technologies. Interestingly, the majority of the visitors were open to using age technologies later ("in old age") and all of them stated that the importance of age technologies would increase in the future. They expect longer autonomy, practical communication, more safety (e.g. through fall sensors), support in the case of dementia and relief in everyday life.

The main problems are seen in the flow of information and access to ageing technologies. In the meantime, there is so much information and possibilities that the consumer does not know where to start looking for a good ageing technology. At the same time, there are still certain fears regarding the loss of privacy and a lack of social contacts if care robots are used on a large scale.
